3) BORDERS:



The United Kingdom is bordered on the south by the Channel, on the east by the North Sea and on the west by the Irish Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Its territory also includes, belonging to Great Britain, the Isle of Wight, Anglesey, the archipelagoes of Scilly, Orkney and Hebrides. Northern Ireland (Ulster) occupies the north-east of the island of Ireland.

6) SPOKEN LANGUAGES:



The official language of the United Kingdom is English, which belongs to the group of Germanic languages ​​and has incorporated many contributions of Latin languages, including French, during the Norman conquest. The Celtic languages, Welsh and Gaelic, are still spoken in Wales: Welsh is the official language, equal to English in administration and legal affairs.

Freedom of worship is guaranteed in the United Kingdom by several laws passed between the 18th and the beginning of the 20th century. Anglicanism is the main and official religion, represented by the Anglican Church but also by the Church of Wales, the Scottish Episcopal Church and the Church of Ireland.

The other denominations represented are Catholicism (about 9% of the population), Presbyterian churches (about 4%), Islam (about 3%), Methodism (about 1%), Judaism (less than 1%).
